Bluebrain is the musical project of brothers Hays & Ryan Holladay. Born and raised in the Washington DC area, the two moved to New York City in 2000 and spent a number of years playing in the Brooklyn-based band, The Epochs. They returned to their hometown in 2008 to found a new project that would become Bluebrain, a musical entity that dabbles in electronic, pop and ambient music. In addition to performing live and releasing records, Bluebrain organizes and stages projects in and around the Washington DC area, including a Cherry Blossom boombox orchestra, a musical audio guide to the Natural History Museum and a live collaboration with a dance company in Meridian Hill Park, to name a few. Hays and Ryan have shared the stage with artists ranging from The Violent Femmes to Beach House and Spank Rock and have been featured in SPIN Magazine, NPR, Time Out New York and the Washington Post. To date, Bluebrain has released one EP and one full-length album on Lujo Records.
